BRIDGERTON: curiosities about the most popular tv series

The first Netflix series signed by the production company Shondaland, takes up the history of nineteenth century England and the Regency style genre. In just twenty-eight days since screening, roughly 63 million subscribers worldwide watched it. Impressive, sky-high numbers that place Bridgerton among the most watched Netflix titles ever.

Now I’m going to tell you all the interesting facts about this TV series.

1 Bridgerton is based on the romance novels of Julia Quinn. The first season, picks up first book “The Duke and I”. Each book is dedicated to each of the Bridgerton siblings, which are 8: four boys and four girls.

2 Viscount Bridgerton with Violet gave birth to 8 children. All named in alphabetical order: Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, Hyachint.

3 The two main characters: Daphne and Simon, played by Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page, before the official recording had to follow 6 weeks of preparation to learn the right posture, dance and piano lessons and go horse riding.

4 Julie Andrews is the narrator for Lady Whistledown. The voiceover was done in New York in a recording studio while filming the Bridgerton series was done in England. This is not the actress’ first work in collaboration with Shonda, in fact, Julie Andrews also previously worked with her on Princess Diary.

5 7500 costumes were made for the TV series and Daphne wore 104 of them.

6 All intimate scenes between the two characters were coordinated by choreographer Lizzy Talbot. In fact, the actors were explained everything in detail: how they had to move and even where they had to put their hands.

7 The most famous pop songs were rearranged in an instrumental version to better suit a period drama.

8 Queen Charlotte is played by Golda Rosheuvel, who has origins with the British royal family.
